Wiveliscombe Ladies had a strong side to face Bridgwater at Plain Pond on Sunday, with experienced Bev Norman and Tania Govier back in the squad.
Unfortunately Bridgwater arrived with only 11 players and opted to play 10 a side with rolling subs, this unbalanced Wivey who took a little time to adjust.
Wivey started strong and the pack dominated with Emma Richards, Beth Smith and Sophie Wickins making some good ground, Bridgwater scored a couple run away tries and Wivey replied with a try by Tania Govier who finished off some good work by the pack, Kirsty Bawden converted, Bridgwater scored another 2 tries with some fine running by their three quarters before half time going in half time 22-7 up.
Wivey started the half on top again forcing Bridgwater back and were rewarded again by with a try by Tania Govier.
Wivey had a firm grip on the game before the game was unfortunately stopped by the referee following some ill discipline by players and finally the Bridgwater coach.
Wivey will gain confidence after this game and look forward to the challenge of playing Bridgwater away in 3 weeks.
